Francisca is a 48 year old woman, married and lives with her family in a village in Aldea Guineales. She has four children between the ages of 14 and 26, all of whom are to a school in her community.

Francisca earns her income by purchasing and selling traditional Guatemalan clothes and has been doing so for the past 8 years. To cover the demand that she is currently receiving from her customers she is asking for a credit to purchase additional clothing such as: traditional Guatemalan dresses (“Güipiles”), girdles and skirts.

Her ultimate goal is to have her own business premises and to improve the living conditions of her family.

This loan is special because:

It targets low-income borrowers who can’t access typical microfinance loans.

A loan of $550 helped to purchase clothing such as traditional Guatemalan dresses (“Güipiles”), girdles and skirts for resale to cover the demand of her customers.
